Chapters 5-7 Summary

In chapter 5, Grant and Victoria see and speak to each other again for the first time in over a year. They talk about their daughter and how she is beautiful however Victoria learns that taking care of their daughter, whom Grant named Hazel, was also too big of a responsibility for him. Grant tells Victoria that Hazel lives with Elizabeth, although he visits her, and that she's truly happy.

Victoria sees that Grant redid the water tower and he tells her that he was hoping they would live there together one day. Victoria realizes how much she meant to Grant. Grant shares with Victoria that he now knows the truth of her setting the fire and he talks about the last year of his mother's life and how they had a good year.
