Chapter Twelve Summary

In Chapter Twelve Sarah and Monty are on their way home. Monty communicates Child with Sarah. Sarah says that they are finished. Monty says Sad. And alone. Sarah tells her that Eve will take care of Jane. Monty doesn't want to stop being with Jane.

Joe has tracked down Mark. Mark changed his digital phone number and took off for Florida. He does tell Joe that Eve is following Dom's lead. Joe threatens Mark. Joe is going to persist until he learns something from Mark.

Monty awakens Sarah in the night by howling. Monty never howls. Sarah goes through the door at a run. All is quiet. Monty doesn't answer. Sarah sees red meat in his dish with bites taken out of it. Sarah starts into the yard and runs into something furry.
