Chapter 10 Summary

Bill sleeps in very late the next day. He recognizes that by visiting Ronny at Denny's every night and by taking the sleeping pills he has become almost a nocturnal creature, detached from the rest of the world. He gets dressed and realizes that he was supposed to go see Teri at Osco where she works, but has slept through it. He worries that this might affect his relationship with her. So he drives out to the fields where her trailer is, leaves his truck away from it, and walks up to see what's going on. He hides in the cornfields among the mosquitoes.
