Summary

In Chapter 6, Alma and Nathaniel entertained one another. They were especially fond of putting together and performing plays in the attic of the Sea Cliff house. Ichimei was put in charge of painting backdrops. Nathaniel’s life changed when he began secondary school. He was small and enjoyed learning so he was bullied by the other students. Lillian tried to intervene but was told by the school’s headmaster that he believed fighting was good for the boys. Ichimei stepped in by introducing his friend to martial arts. Isaac went to see Takao, who taught judo and karate, and signed Nathaniel up for classes. Nathaniel was never bullied again. Isaac expressed his thanks to Takao by having a wooden floor lain in the garage where Takao taught his classes.

Although Nathaniel no longer got beat up at school, none of the other boys...
