Summary

Frances invited Mimi and Yardley to stay at the estate after the meeting ended in Chapter 23. They enjoyed each other’s company until it was time for bed, where Mimi contemplated her life in Hollywood. She called Jack around midnight, and he said he was off to a meeting with Monte. He explained that her old studio would pay for half of the Sense and Sensibility budget, but they wanted to “go in another direction with Elinor” (222). Because he invested in a Scottish company, he needed Monte’s investment and participation. Disturbed by this betrayal, Mimi hung up the phone and contemplated the male-dominated wealth and power of Hollywood. Before drifting to sleep, she heard footsteps outside.
