Part One - Chapter Four: The Theft, Chapter Five: Brothers Summary

Chapter Four: The knight in the throne room is not Ash after all, but a doppelganger created by Tertius, an Iron knight. Meghan had last seen Tertius when she was battling Machina in The Iron King. Tertius and the Iron faeries attack. Sage yanks Meghan away, hiding her behind Mab's throne. Sage is wounded, unable to fend off so many attackers, and Meghan grabs the scepter. She aims it at an attacker, then she is slashed across the face. She drops the scepter and Tertius retrieves it. He explains that he is following the orders of Machina's successor, the new Iron King, then he stabs Sage and departs with the Scepter of the Seasons, along with the other Iron faeries.
