Summary

Chapter 31 is titled “Heather” and returns to January 2. She is in shock as she looks at the online article about Doug being charged with “attempted strangulation” (186). She knows that it looks as if someone strangled Miranda, but she cannot think why Doug would have taken her to the body if he was guilty.

Chapter 32 is titled “Katie” and goes back two days, to New Year's Eve. Miranda wants everyone to dress up for dinner but Katie spends the time with a pregnancy kit, shocked when it is positive. Miranda arrives and forces her to finish getting ready. Katie notices that everyone is tense and attributes it to the fact that they killed the deer “for fun” (190).
