In chapter three, the tributes are whisked away into custody and escorted to a room where they have an hour to say goodbye to their family and friends. Katniss says goodbye to Prim and her mother, reminding them that Prim cannot take tessarae. Katniss makes her mother promise not to go away again like she did when their father died. Gale has promised to take them game, but she reminds them to trade with him instead of accepting charity.
