Summary

In Chapter 5, Lewis is late heading for the cemetery. He has a piece of paper with a diagram of what he is supposed to draw on the ground outside the mausoleum, and he has memorized the spell he will say. He chants to himself that he does not want to do this, but he resolutely heads for the cemetery. He worries that Tarby will leave, and that he will taunt Lewis for not showing up. Lewis also worries about being alone in the cemetery at night. The cemetery is atop a hill, known as Cemetery Hill, and Lewis has to climb a path that is a shortcut but is more difficult in order to get there more quickly. He is exhausted and sweaty by the time he reaches the top, and knows Tarby “had probably scaled the ridge in a tenth the time...
