Summary

In “The Night Before the Party,” It is 10 p.m. and Perla goes to get into bed with Big Angel, who is already asleep. Big Angel wakes up and begins to recount the story of the second time they met, in a movie theater. They had sex that night, on the beach. The memory ends, and the reader is told that this is Big Angel’s favorite moment in his life. Big Angel insists that he is not tired, but falls asleep anyway. Meanwhile, Little Angel is spending the night on his sister Marylú’s couch. They discuss Big Angel’s birthday plans. Little Angel thinks about his father, Don Antonio, who everyone called Angel.
