Aibileen Clark

Aibileen Clark is an older black woman who works for the demanding and sometimes impossible Miss Hilly. Aibileen is in charge of all of the housekeeping duties and also serves as a nanny for little Mae Mobley, Hilly's two year old daughter. Neither Hilly nor her husband seems to have any real affection or parental instincts toward the child which makes Aibileen angry and perhaps overly protective. Aibileen knows, however, that she cannot challenge Hilly on her lack of maternal care since it would get her fired and most likely, blackballed in the community.

Aibileen is a strong woman with a great sense of morality and honor. She has begun to show some wear after all of her years in service but the wear never shows in her work. Additionally, Aibileen had lost her 24 year old son in an accident, which clearly has broken her heart. Aibileen...
