Point of View

This story is told from the first-person point of view of Post. Post narrates only what he knows, has experienced firsthand, or has been told by other characters. The first-person point of view is important because it is Post’s personal experiences that make him fight so hard for his clients. Another character or a third-person narrator could not capture the passion that Post has for his job. For instance, Post states of his wait for Duke’s stay of execution to come through: “I’ve suffered through two of these countdowns in other states. One went full cycle and my man uttered his final words. The other was waved off in a miracle finish” (3).
