Summary

Chapter 9 begins as Cal prepares for the welcome party that night, stressing over outfits and deciding against a John Mayer style hat. He calls Deb for outfit advice and rants to her about his parents fighting and his new media fame. She tells him off for calling her just to talk about himself. The family pulls up to the party and it is very glitzy, with champagne bottles everywhere, and Cal realizes Leon and Kat were right that no one would notice a bottle missing. Cal notices the record player which is in line with the retro 60s theme NASA and StarWatch are attempting to create. Cal’s Dad is overwhelmed with the nostalgia. He wipes a tear as Cal notices StarWatch Kiara and Josh filming his father.
