Summary

In Chapter 9, Sam sat in an outdoor serenity garden trying to compose herself. She thought about how she’d had so much trouble letting Anton go, even when it was clear that he was in pain and had given up on being cured. Sam spotted Charlie just inside her realm of vision and asked her to stop hiding in her blind spot.

Charlie told Sam not to let Rusty talk her into defending Kelly. She also told Sam that she did look like their mother, that Rusty still had the photo of her on his desk. Sam had always wanted a copy of that photo but had been too proud to ask. Charlie and Sam joked about the way that Sam had hit their father with her purse. Sam said there was something about being back that brought out the worst in her...
