Summary

In Chapter 7, Sam finished her early morning swimming routine and headed upstairs to get ready for work. It was Sam’s birthday. She was 44, the same age Gamma had been when she was murdered. As Sam looked at her reflection in the elevator doors she remembered how her hair had been black 28 years prior. She had woken in the hospital after being shot with white stubble growing from her head. Her hair had remained white. In her penthouse apartment, Sam went through her morning routine of fixing her tea, feeding her cat, and doing stretches to keep herself limber.

The bullet had permanently damaged the parts of her brain where language was created and where language was understood as well as those that controlled movement on the right side of her body. She did not remember everything that had happened on that day...
