Point of View

This novel is written from the point of view of a third-person narrator. This narrator focuses on two main characters, Cassie and Elena. For the most part, the chapters alternate between Cassie’s point of view and Elena’s point of view. The chapters dedicated to Cassie narrate the events as well as her emotions, thoughts, and memories, through that her perspective. The chapters dedicated to Elena do the same.

Also written from the third person point of view are the FBI memos. These memos give a view of what is happening from the FBI’s point of view. It is from these memos that the reader learns that the FBI is considering the idea that Alex might have targeted Cassie because of her brother’s role in the destruction of chemical weapons.
