Chapters 16-18, (pages 150-183) Summary

Back at Win's apartment, Myron explains what happened to him. Win had called a private doctor to see to Myron's wounds. As the doctor patches Myron up, Win laughs that a couple of "women" beat up Myron. Myron is too exhausted to bicker with Win and passes out on his friend's couch. When he awakens he decides to call Hester and demands to speak with Esperanza. To his surprise, she agrees to let him see her.

The first words out of Myron's mouth with he sees Esperanza are, "I killed someone." Myron does not elaborate but Esperanza figures out this is why he ran away to the Caribbean. It also has something to do with the woman named Brenda. Esperanza can see through Myron's plan and quickly sets him straight. She is still not going to tell...
