A pivotal point of the novel, and Greer’s life, occurs at Ryland college. Ryland is where Greer is introduced to her first taste of activism and where her inner fire for feminism begins to burn. This is where she meets Faith, who is to become her mentor and teach her more than she had ever bargained for about the company you keep. Ryland it also where Greer meets Zee, who will be the first to introduce her to the experiences that are about to shape her life, as well as become her best friend.
