Summary

In Chapter 13, America goes back to her room after reading the article. She wonders why she is staying in the competition as no one likes her, and she thinks that she cannot be a princess. She tells her maids to leave and tries to find something she can focus on. Playing the piano does not work, so she reads an entry from Gregory’s diary. It mentions the Halloween party and the fact that it seemed to be wasteful to him. Then he talks about the state of the country. People have gotten lazy and that is how China has been able to take over. They are still lazy. He wants to bring about change instead of only giving money to the war effort. She wonders what he would think of the monarchy now.
