Summary

In Chapter Nine: This Horror Will Grow Mild, This Darkness Light, Elizabeth tells the doctor that Victor’s fevers make him delirious. Elizabeth then asks to stay with Mary while Justine goes back to the boardinghouse. That night, she goes to a graveyard and learns that students have been stealing the bodies. She heads to another address in Victor’s list; a charnel house filled with unclaimed bodies. The man asks her if she is buying for Henry, and explains that ‘Henry’ still owes him money. He then grabs Elizabeth, but she escapes. She blames herself for Victor’s state, as she was not there to stop his obsession with death.
