Summary

Chapter 19

Sometime in 1930, Einar decides to visit Professor Bolk in Germany. He wants to go alone, because he’s afraid he’ll back out if anyone else is with him. While he’s traveling on the train, he thinks about everything that has happened in his life, such as becoming an artist and meeting Greta. Once he becomes Lili, he knows there will be an obituary about Einar, but he also knows that it will leave out many important details, and people just won’t understand anything about him.

Greta is back at home worrying about Einar. She isn’t sure if she should go to him in Germany or not, despite his wishes for no one to be there during his transformation. Hans shows up to check on her, revealing that Einar had told him all about Lili when he was...
