Part 5

Strike, in pain from his knee, speaks to Wardle, saying action has to be taken, for a maniac is on the loose. Strike is angry that Wardle isn’t more receptive to things and is struggling with bad pain from his fall. Strike threatens to go to the press if Wardle doesn’t take action. He gives Wardle some numbers and tells him to get a warrant.

Robin, meanwhile, has been attempting to contact Strike. He doesn’t answer. When he returns to the office, Robin sees something is wrong. Robin wants to go to a doctor, and Strike declines. Robin shows him the photo of Jonah Agyeman, who looks a lot like Lula. Robin reveals that Tony Landry has called three times, threatening to sue, saying that Alison has walked out.
