White Van

The white van is a symbol of loyalty. Even though Ramotswe’s husband tries to get her to buy a more modern vehicle Ramotswe likes her van and continues to drive it out of loyalty.

Eggs

These eggs are signs of guilt. Mpilo steals these eggs from a guinea’s nest. Potokwane tells him that he has done wrong in taking the eggs and must return them to the nest where he found them.

Mpilo’s scars represent the mysteries of his past. He tells the nurse at the orphanage that he got the scars on his neck and leg from lightning. Potokwane is not sure if she believes his claim.
