Summary

In Chapter 13, when Makutsi paid her visit to the office for the developers of the Big Fun Hotel, she made her first mistake when she signed the ledger and began to write that she was with the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. She was far enough through her entry that the receptionist, who was watching as she wrote, asked why she was crossing out her entry. She asked if Makutsi was a detective, earning a laugh from Makutsi. On her way upstairs, Makutsi criticized herself for making such a juvenile mistake.

Makutsi was afraid that Moruti would already know her subterfuge when she arrived at his office and order her out but instead, he greeted her politely. After making some small talk, Moruti asked how he could help her. Makutsi suggested she could be of help to him because she could sell him furniture...
