Summary

Over the monitor, Xombul tells the robots another tsunami will hit New York City within the hour, and urges them to “blow up the place” before they leave the city (21). Then Xombul sees Valerian and orders the robots to capture him. A fight erupts but the robots can throw flames that would “disintegrate” the humans and Sun Rae's bullets do not harm the robots. Xombul orders the robots to capture Valerian's group alive, and they do. Xombul orders Valerian, Laureline, and Sun Rae to head west out of the city using Xombul's hovercraft. He warns that the robots will kill them if they go off course. Valerian wakes Sun Rae to have him pilot the hovercraft. The situation is serious as they manage to make it out of the city, but they survive just as the city comes crashing down behind them.
