Chapter 2 Summary

As Cameryn and Patrick prepare for the job, Cameryn assures her father that she is fine, though she does not feel as confident as she portrays. When they quickly reach a rundown hotel across town, Patrick reminds Cameryn to bring the camera as he growls about the presence of nosy Deputy Crowley who he refuses to listen to as he enters the hotel room with Cameryn following. Inside, Cameryn first notices the odor, but after Sheriff John Jacobs greets Patrick and Cameryn, he objects to Cameryn's presence. Patrick insists Cameryn is his new assistant and is twice as smart and half as squeamish as most girls, but he agrees to look at the body before deciding.
