Summary

In Chapter 29, Val works on Alex’s face once more. Val explains she never thought she would enjoy another woman’s company. She says that Val, which is short for Valentine or Valentina, is not her real name. Val promises she will leave quickly when she has completed her part. Einstein will stay with Val either until things are finished successfully, or if things go south. Val explains he can go to Beijing to see Zhang. Alex and Val then head out to the parking garage Carston always uses. There, they see the black BMW Carston drives pull out. Alex imagines that Erin’s first call after discovering Livvy to be missing would have been to Carston. At the next light, Alex pulls alongside Carston, waves to get his attention, and holds up her phone with an image of Livvy. Carston is stunned...
