K. finally decides to leave the courtyard and goes back into the Gentlemen's Inn. The young gentleman who had tried to beckon him away from Klamm's sleigh is inside, seemingly waiting for him. The gentleman he discovers, is Momus, Klamm's village secretary. Also present are the landlord and landlady from K.'s inn.
