Summary

Chapter 6 opens with Lilith in the cellar having dark dreams. Paris, the Johnny-jumper she killed, is in the dreams as well as a white man who forces a female slave to give him oral sex and then kills her afterwards, claiming that she was a run-away slave. Lilith does not feel anything for the woman because she does not have green eyes. In her dream, she follows the white man and shoots with her finger into the dirt. Homer interrupts her dreams and tells her to come with her. She leads Lilith through the cane fields and then disappears. Lost, Lilith thinks that Homer has turned her over to the Johnny-jumpers, but then she sees a light. She follows it and finds Homer with five other women.
