Summary

In Chapter 28, Ezra arrives home from school to find that his mother has pumpkins and carving knives ready. She believes Ezra will enjoy spending some time carving a pumpkin. Ezra realizes that he has to stop acting like he's depressed but he discovers that she's already made an appointment with his therapist.

That Friday, Luke has another Floating Theater event. Ezra doesn't feel he'd be welcomed so he attends a party held at Jill's house. She's one of Charlotte's best friends and the girl who was named homecoming queen. Everyone is supposed to be in costume and the boys are all supposed to be dressed as zombies. Ezra makes a last-minute decision to attend and just covers himself in glitter, going as a vampire. He knows Toby's friends would have understood but Charlotte doesn't see the humor.
