The Rice Run Summary

Richard and Jed head to another part of the island, which involves a long swim in a cave. Richard loses Jed and almost drowns in the process. He emerges from the water and is surprised to find out the commune has a working boat hidden in a cove. Jed is unable to make the motor work, but Richard finds an on/off button, starts the boat and does not tell Jed how he fixed the motor. Jed and Richard realize they both use a lot of military terms, ETA, FNG, military time, and it is a commonality with them leading to a friendship.
