Boom-Boom, Bangkok Summary

The Beach is an adventure novel set in Thailand about a young backpacking traveler named Richard. Richard is in search of new adventures and excitement and finds more than he can handle when he encounters a beach commune on a remote island off the coast of Thailand.

In the section entitled "Boom-Boom", the novel begins with a scene from the Vietnam war zone, and ends with the introduction of the main character, Richard, who was born in 1974, after the close of the Vietnam war.
