Summary

In Chapter 5, the story changes to the perspective of Viola’s point of view. Viola wakes calling out for Todd. Mistress Coyle tries to calm her as Madeline Poole, who introduces herself as Maddy, informs Viola she has been shot. Mistress Coyle tells Viola about Prentiss having taken over the town in which Viola is now staying. All of the women have been locked up. Viola and the others are prisoners in the House of Healing to which she was brought. Mistress Coyle asks Viola for any information she can give them, especially since they did save her life. Viola tells her what she knows.

In the next scene, Corinne comes in as Maddy is changing Viola’s bandages. She tells Maddy she needs to hurry because they have been summoned to the town square. When Viola wakes again later Maddy tells...
