Part Two - 1977: Pages 482 - 526 Summary

Mad with grief, Roland and his scouts took the spoor and raced after the ZIPRA terrorists. Just before the minefield, Roland finds the remains of Janine's yellow skirt and with renewed fury he almost leaps into the minefield itself, but his second in command tackles him. Roland uses his radio, barely reaching Victoria Falls and requests that Craig Mellow be brought in. Soon after, a plane comes in close and Craig parachutes down. He immediately starts to disarm the claymores and work his way through the minefield, with Roland behind him encouraging all the way. When the progress is slow, he starts to tell Craig the extent of the damage done to Janine. He describes the rape, and the sheer violence of their attack on her, and Craig loses all rationale. He clears the field...
