Summary

In Chapter 22, Leia and Rachel looked for pictures in the attic to hang on the wall and cover up the destruction Birchie had caused. Cody Mack was coming to collect her DNA at the house and they did not want him to see Ellis’ disfigured portrait. Rachel told Leia that she had already told Keith that Leia was pregnant so that when she saw them, they would be calmer and supportive, getting over their initial shock. Jake and Lavender had already started the drive back home and Rachel was soon to follow, with Leia offering her house for them to stay in. Rachel and Leia hung pictures of boats to cover the damage to the wall and as Wattie, Birchie and Leia are saying goodbye to Rachel, Birchie started laughing saying “My father is a boat” (305).
