Summary

In Chapter 51 Betteryear takes Tara hunting. He can tell that she is distracted and says they will go again later. When she gets back, Frauke is sad because a bear killed her dog. Newt advises Tara to call her father. She decides that he is right and that she will do it the next day.

In Chapter 52, Tara calls her father the next day. He wants to know where she is, and she wants to know what he wanted to talk to her about. She realizes that he knows about the rape, but does not want to talk to him about it. He pleads for her not to leave him, but she hangs up anyway.
