Alien Invasion

The premise of this novel is based on an attack by aliens who have come to make the earth more suitable for their use. The aliens attack in several waves, beginning with disabling modern life with an EMP, causing massive tsunamis, and releasing a deadly virus. The aliens then turn the humans on each other, first by having human hosts to the aliens kill unsuspecting aliens and then training children to kill survivors.

The biggest problem with the alien invasion is the unknown. The humans had no way of knowing what was coming and what is still to come. Children are left orphaned, parents murdered to keep them from interfering. Cassie finds herself on her own, afraid she is the only human left alive. This presents an interesting lack of trust for Cassie when she does encounter other humans.
