Summary

In Chapter 7, Jenny collapses, and Middoni carries her. Amgiddi argues that Jenny is the only valuable hostage and they should kill Jim and Garth; but, Middoni disagrees. Garth reveals that he believes they “have the gift of tongues” (Location 1163) and the gift of interpretation. Garth says it is a blessing, but Jim argues he does not feel particularly blessed. Garth asks questions until Middoni threatens him. Jim describes the weapons and appearance of the men, including that their loincloths look like diapers. They arrive at the camp, and Jim describes more of the people, who are amazed at Jenny's blond hair. They meet Ammoron first, Amalickiah's brother. From listening, Garth and Jim learn that Middoni's family are sons of King Antiomno who have fallen out of favor. Middoni hoped this would redeem them. Garth reveals the flashlight, and Ammoron wants more of them...
