Summary

Meg Pritchard is on a ferry with her best friend, Minnie. They are on their way to Henry Island, where they were invited via Facebook for a Presidents' Day weekend-long party by the most popular girl in school, Jessica Lawrence. Meg and Minnie's friendship is a bit strained at the moment. Minnie is on new anti-depressants which seem to have affected her mood lately. Also, Meg's acceptance into UCLA has affected their friendship. Meg can tell Minnie feels Meg is abandoning her by going off to school in California. Minnie is seasick, so Meg offers her a plastic bag and tries to distract her with a humorous story. Minnie is excited to party this weekend. Meg says she is also excited, but all she really wants is to find an isolated spot on the island where she can get some writing done.
