Summary

Paul grows anxious about Erin's red backpack, because he's afraid he will see it one day when he returns to his apartment, and that will mean Erin has returned. She has been gone for three weeks because a drunk driver has hit her mother. She finally returns and tells him she'll buy a new backpack. Paul wants to end their relationship, but she is vulnerable at present so he decides not to. He brings up their relationship in a theater a few weeks later. They both feel bad about it, but say nothing else and stay together. On the way home, he explains that they're both depressed. She asks what she can do, but he doesn't answer her. Later, they take Ambien and Xanax and return to Paul's apartment. Paul goes on his MacBook and shows her what kind of fish she ate earlier...
