Catherine Linton

Catherine Linton is a newspaper reporter. Catherine grew up in the small town of Lowfield, Mississippi and has returned there after the death of her parents. Catherine's parents died six months ago in a car accident while driving to Arkansas to visit her for the Christmas holidays. The car accident was caused by someone tampering with the car. Ever since returning home, Catherine has been lost in a fog of grief, cutting herself off from all her friends and neighbors to the point that she does not speak to anyone, even while at work. When Catherine finds the dead body of her father's long time nurse, she is forced to see how isolated she has become. This isolation was a comfort before, but now it seems to be a dangerous separation from safety.
