While the audience does not explicitly know what happened, it is clear that an event transpired involving Chris that put Jason in prison. Jason’s inability to articulate his thoughts on the subject illustrates his difficulty of personal expression. Also, the fact that he pushed what happened out of his head shows Jason’s inability to cope with the situation. Rather than deal with this issue, he has chosen to bury the problem.
