Book Two, Part Ten, Chapters 59-63 Summary

In Chapter 59, Swan and company learn that Glory's late husband was a preacher who died trying to put a fire out in his church. Swan wakes in the middle of the night hearing a dog bark and thinks it is Killer, who she does not know is dead. She follows the sound into the field and remembers that the way the dead child's hands have frozen is how she used to plant seeds. She opens the corpse's hands, finds seeds, and begins to plant them. Mule joins her to keep her awake and safe from the forest animals. Josh finds her next to Mule in the morning. Her hands are injured and she has gone blind in her remaining eye. Aaron takes Crybaby.
