Book One, Part Seven, Chapters 41-47 Summary

In Chapters 41 and 42, Josh, Leona, and Swan are trapped in K-Mart by Alvin Mangrim and his following. They paint Josh's face to resemble a skull and force him to play the game, Straightjacket. He chooses to have his legs free and must make it to the finish line in five minutes or Alvin will kill Swan and Leona. No one uses guns because Alvin says they are not fair. Josh pushes his way through many foes, finally facing off with a Neanderthal with a chainsaw. He wins, but not in time, and Killer the terrier bites Alvin's nose just before he attacks Swan. They escape, but Leona is gravely injured and sacrifices herself so they can have more time.
