Summary

In the Prologue, Victoria Leonard answers the phone at the pubic relations firm where she works. It is Caitlin. Caitlin invites her to her wedding, wants her to be her maid of honor. When Victoria learns that Caitlin is marrying Bru, she feels sick and weak. She agrees to come, but runs to the bathroom to throw up as soon as she hangs up the phone. At the airport four weeks later, Victoria hugs Caitlin and the memories of their summers together come back. It’s almost as if they’ve never been apart.
