House on Narragansett Avenue

The house on Narragansett Avenue is the girls’ boarding house in which Kirby gets a room for the summer. Because she is the last girl to arrive, Kirby is relegated to the attic. Kirby befriends both Patty and Evan while she lives in this house. When her fan breaks, Evan buys her an air-conditioner because it gets so hot in the attic. Darren tells her the air-conditioner is a sign that Evan likes her. Darren also demonstrates that he likes Kirby because he carries the air-conditioner up the stairs for her and installs it after Evan complains that he is not sure how he will get it up the stairs to Kirby’s room.

After Kirby returns home from the Shiretown Inn the night that Luke came there demanding to know where Patty was, she returns home to find that Luke is waiting for Patty...
