Through the help of Nina, he has a new outlook on life. Joe and Nina share a brief conversation while continuing to sit on the beach holding hands and watching the ocean. The book ends here.

Joe has been given a new identification and a new life. The group made him a new birth certificate, driver's license and credit cards. Forgery was not involved so Joe does not have to carry any guilt that would be associated with doing something illegal....
