Michigan

Michigan is the main setting of the novel. It is where Layken and her family move, and where Layken's mother, Julia, was born. It is where Detroit and Ypsilanti are located.

Ypsilanti

Ypsilanti is the small town outside of Detroit where Julia is born, and where she moves her family following the death of her husband. It is where Will and his brother live, and where Layken, Kel, and Caulder attend school, and where Will teaches school.

Detroit

Detroit is a city in Michigan, and is where Club N9NE is located. It is where Will, Layken, and their friends go to get to Club N9NE.

Club N9NE

Club N9NE is the hosting place of slam competitions every Thursday night. It is where Will takes Layken on their first date, and where they ultimately confess their love to one another.
