Bishoptown-on-Ouse is the fictional village where the majority of this novel is set. It is the village where Emma has lived all her life.

The Ouse River is a real river located in Yorkshire, England. It is during a flash flood when this river bursts its banks that Aiden disappears. It is suspected at the time that Aiden drown in the river.

Bishoptown School

Bishoptown School is the school that Emma, Rob, and Aiden all attended. It is where Emma first met Jake. It was because the roof of the school was leaking during the flash flood that Emma was called to get Aiden. Later, Emma had a part-time job at the school. The baby shower for the infant girl she was to have with Jake was held in the teachers’ common room at the school.
