Summary

In Chapter 10, Aiden’s x-ray showed that one of his ankles had been broken but that the break had healed well. Emma was shocked because she thought that Schaffer’s words that the ankle injury was Aiden’s most significant physical injury were good news.

That afternoon Stevenson announced the press had caught wind that Aiden had been found. Jake seemed overly concerned about the press getting hold of the story. Emma tried to enjoy having her son to herself as she sat in his hospital room. She even held his hand when the nurses took blood from him. Cathy Foster, the child psychologist, came to see Aiden. Both she and Emma were disturbed by a black scribble of ferocious pen marks that filled the page.
